Wild Flower Honey
By Marie Burns
I believe the birds and bees
gathered round the hemlock trees
they brought their finest offerings
flowers grown in early spring
and to the boy destined to roam
they gave their sweetest honey comb
And he's wild flower honey
from the hills of Caroline
every little kiss from his sugar sweet lips
taste like wild cherry blossom wine
I close my eyes when he sings
and I can hear the mountains ring
the whipper will in his sad song
I smell honey suckle growing strong
like an evening summer thunder storm
from the south sweet and warm
He's wild flower honey
from the hills of caroline
and every little kiss from his sugar sweet lips
taste like wild cherry blossom wine
and the women swarm around him
anytime he comes through town
and I'm hoping and I pray
fate will find a way
to make it my turn next time around
He travels with his gypsy band
stealing hearts throughout the land
the boys all like his rowdy songs
they tap their feet and sing along
their women love him, young and old
and think of him when the nights get cold
cause he's Wild flower honey
from the hills of Caroline
and every little kiss from his sugar sweet lips
taste like wild cherry blossom wine
the women swarm around him
anytime he comes through town
and I 'm hoping and I pray
Fate will find a way
to make it my turn next time around
yes I'm hoping and I pray that its my lucky day
and it will be my turn this time around
